Cumbuco is one of the many small fishing villages, of 2,000 people, located along the northeast coast of Brazil,at 30 km from Fortaleza, in the state of Céara, nestled between the dunes and the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the most important tourist destinations in Ceara.
The village people will seduce you with their kindness and simplicity. You will find everything you need: stores for clothes, swimwear and various items for kitesurfing.
Small supermarkets filled with fresh fruits and vegetables and a fishmonger are also located around the square village Hairdressers,manucure and pharmacy. All around the center of the village or at the seaside, there are bars for a drink, as well as restaurants.

Many people stop in Cumbuco to enjoy the tourist and sports activities in the aera. Cumbuco is one of the most famous spots in the world and championships are held there regularly.
The good period to go kitesurfing in the state of Ceara is from July to December. Born in the 60’s, this sport is growing rapidly thanks to the French Dominique and Bruno Legaignoux, who in 1984 patented the curved inflatable kite.The speed record to date is more than 57.98 knots (107.3 km/h). Today kitesurfing is an international sport with tens of thousands of kitesurfers all over the world.

The colonial heritage of the beginning of the 20th century can be found mainly in the “centro”, where more than 50 characteristic Portuguese houses from the 19th century have been restored. To see also, the church of Our Lady of the Rosary of the XVIIIth, Passeo Publico, the oldest site of the city with magnificent hundred-year-old trees, like an immense baobab tree, which côtoient the statues; the very pretty Plaça do Feirrera in the center of the pedestrian streets, the palace of Luz of the XVIIIth which sheltered the provincial Government, the palace of Aboliçao where the mausoleum of the president Castelo Branco is, the the theater José de Alencar around 1910 in a metal architecture Art nouveau made in Scotland! with art gallery and library, the railway station l’estacao Joao Felipe which dates from 1880 and restored in its period style, the Bronze lions imported from France in the Lions Square, the Fortaleza Nossa Senhora da Assunçao, military monument of Fortaleza built in 1649 by the Dutch, still used as barracks.
Beaches
After your walk in the center of Fortaleza, you can go to the large white sand beach of Praia do Futuro, 8 km long, to have lunch under an umbrella, drink an iced caipirinha on a deckchair at Crocobeach and swim in a sea at 28 degrees. There are more than 50 bars and restaurants, very popular beach on Thursdays and weekends.
